At this time of year, it seems at EMERALD POINTE or in the Punta Gorda Community, a wide variety of events are offered for all to enjoy. Everyone should be able to find an event suiting their particular interest.

  • Flatsmasters Tournament
    The 2008 Junior Flatsmasters Tournament kicks off at 8 a.m. with a weigh-in and awards ceremony following at Harpoon Harry's.

  • "Battle of the Wings" at Gilchrist Park
• June 13-14
  • Hibiscus Festival and Bicycle Tour
    Head down to Gilchrist Park for the fifth annual Punta Gorda National Hibiscus Festival. Activities kick off with live music on Friday night followed by a plant sale and farmers market, Lil' Miss Hibiscus Pageant, free trolley rides, garden tours, Hibiscus Regatta, more musical entertainment and plenty of children's activities on Saturday.   • Gallery Walk - Historic District from 5-8 p.m.
    Punta Gorda’s Third Thursday Gallery Walk on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Visit any of the downtown merchants, restaurants and galleries for your game card. As always, there will be live entertainment, food and drink samplings, art, beauty and health demonstrations, a free trolley, and an evening of fun. There is plenty of free parking.

  • Redfish Survivor Series
    This three-day, four-round, single elimination redfish tournament matches 50 teams head-to-head in a battle for two redfish. Weigh-ins will be held each day at 3 p.m. at Fishermen's Village center court stage. Call (941) 637-5953 for information.

  • Shallow Water Wading Adventures - Ponce DeLeon Park from 9:30 a.m. - Noon
    Learn about the estuary. These explorations of the seagrass and mangrove habitats with dip nets to find fish, shrimp, crabs and other marine life will take place at the Park. Call (941) 575-5435 to register

  • Freedom Swim
